Description
This small-group walking tour connects history, culture, and food through a "story" from Osaka Castle to Dotonbori. At Osaka Castle, we'll introduce the stories of people who shaped Osaka's history, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Sen no Rikyu. From there, we'll venture into the city, tracing Osaka's history as a merchant town and discovering how it connects to present-day Osaka culture, food, and the character of its people. Our destination is the vibrant Dotonbori. Osaka Castle and Dotonbori, two seemingly completely different places, will connect to form a single story of Osaka. A nationally certified English-speaking guide will provide commentary in Japanese, English, or a combination of both, tailored to the participants. With a maximum of six people, you can participate at your own pace, enjoying questions and conversations. Instead of just seeing famous tourist spots, why not explore the dreams and stories of the people behind them and discover "why Osaka became the city it is?" This tour is recommended for first-time visitors to Osaka as well as those who want to learn more about the city. ~Experience Flow~ 0:00 Meet and Greet at JR Osaka Station Meet at the Midosuji South Exit of JR Osaka Station. We will explain the tour flow and then head to Osaka Castle. Around 0:30 The Beginning of Osaka Castle and the Story of Osaka As we walk around Osaka Castle, we will introduce the stories of people who shaped Osaka's history, such as Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Sen no Rikyu. Around 1:30 From Castle Town to Merchant Town As we move through the streets of Osaka, we will trace the background of its development as a merchant town and the culture that connects to present-day Osaka. Around 2:30 Enjoy Osaka's Food Culture and the City We will enjoy learning how Osaka's food culture developed, its history, and its connection to the lives of its people. Around 3:30 Disband at Dotonbori The tour ends in the lively Dotonbori. We will reflect on the "story of Osaka" that connects everything from Osaka Castle to modern-day Osaka. *Times and itinerary may vary depending on traffic conditions, participants' walking pace, weather, etc. on the day.
